New Toyota Wish Launched

It's finally launched!

www.toyota.jp/wish

I don't quite like the styling, but there are some improvements in this model such as a larger cabin, repositioned side mirror for better visibility. The new paddle shift on the steering wheel looks nice. The speedometer looks cool too.

www.wishclub.org is now defunct!

Was tidying up the site a bit and realised that the old wishwerk website is now gone. Wonder if the workshop is still around.

Met Sebestian the other day and he is now running Makan Express. He has a italian eatery and a sushi joint at Clementi Ave 2 coffeeshop. Enterprising guy!

It's been so looonnng!

Wow! It's been sooo long since I last update this blog. More than a year ago. Obviously I've lost interest along the way as there wasn't much left to do that I found appealing.

It's not that I don't like my car anymore. In fact, over the years, I've grown to like the Wish very much and the way it handles on the road. A lot of friends still wonder why I get such a big car when that's only 2 of us in it most of the time.

Anyway, had to do some spring cleaning and dug up a box of stuff that I've yet to put in the car, so decided to get back into the game and put whatever I can find on the ride.

Will update a bit on what happened in retropect if I get around to it.

Also, this was previously a closed group, restricted to a few. I have now decided to open up the blog for all to read.

Location for more shoots?

Ok. Need some ideas for location. I need space and also unblocked skies.

Have a look at these. I'm sure we can do something similar to this.

It's very important not to have trees reflected on the top of the car. It will look messy. Also, it would be good if the buildings or ground is very light in color, better for dark colored cars.

Looking at the VW Golf, perhaps the beach is a good idea for a romantic type shoot, but the color of the car will not show accurately. Still, it'll be fun to try.

So...any suggestions?

Swishbrade

Since I'm at it, I also did up a wallpaper for John's ride.

Click for the 1024 version.

All shot at the same location. I just love the Wald Executive Line Aero kit! Check out the twin exhaust! Here's the front profile.

Obviously the number plates have been changed to protect the guilty. Ha!

Profile picture!!

Ok. Probably the last few weeks that my ride will look like this. So I thought I might as well take a picture to rememeber it by.

Presenting my stocking looking 2005 Toyota Wish!! Click on the image for an 1024 pixel picture.

As can be clearly seen, I have replace the 209 colored door handles with Chrome ones and I've also added Original Toyota Mud Guards and Fog Lights. Rims are not standard issue either, they've been upsized to 17 inch. Other than that, the car looks absolutely stock.

From the rear profile, the rear spoiler is actually from the Aerosports/Z model. The third brake light has also been tinted red. The muffler tip is bolted on and the emblems were added later. Seems like the rear profile is much less stock looking.

Wish Transformers!?

Transformers seems to be the latest movie to hit the screen and it features lots of nice ride like the Hummer. However, the guys from www.wish-mania.com felt that it should have been the Toyota Wish instead. So here it is!

They even did individual profiles and here's four of them.

Really impressive photoshop work here. Two thumbs up! I think I'll go watch the movie.

Maximum Bling!

Garson D.A.D impresses USA.

These jaw dropping pictures speaks for themselves.

Oh!! Here's a special version of my rim!!! It seems that nowadays, Dimonds, or rather crystals are a man's best friend too!

Detailing these pimped up rides would be a nightmare!

PFL Z model Wish

Hmm.. Not a rational thought, but I was remotely considering the original wide body kit. Since my wheels are now wider than before due to the spacers that were added, perhaps it's something I can consider.

Here's a JDM Pre Face Lift Z model with with Original wide fender. Notice now the 17" wheels and rims are slightly recessed?

The back is even more obvious. I suppose with spacers and spring retainers, you can flush the entire look and it will be quite good looking.

By the way, original window visors too. It's translucent grey.

Whilst we are at it, here's the interior. Look at the shift gate panel. Nice huh? Also, the original steering wheel controls for Head Unit and the tweeter holder beside the inner door handle.

Cartoon Wish

Chanced upon this cute illustration of Wish from a Japanese site so I thought I'll share it here as well.

I wonder if it was a photoshop car or one drawn from ground up. Still, it's very well done in my opinion.

Check this out man!

It comes with an ottomann too! Really ugly! I wonder who will buy it? I suppose I might just be stupid enough if I'm absolutely flushed with cash.

Ended

Ok. The endless indecisiveness on brake upgrade has finally ended. I bit the bullet and went for it.

As I've said earlier, the Endless wagon 6 option is now out.

Finally opted for Endless 6 pot (EC603) front and Endless micro 6 pot (EC620) rear option. It's the extreme right and left one in the pictures.

It will be fited with 330 mm front and 286 mm rear rotors. Both are 2 piece construction, ventilated and slotted.

The four pot is no less impressive, but heck, let's go all the way!

Belated April Fool's Joke

I sold my Toyota Wish!!!

Ok. My dad manage to trade in my car for a whooping S$46,000 today!!! Solid!

This is my new ride. Anyone can guess which model is this? Hint: Fully kit! And don't insult me by telling me it's the lowly graded Aeras! Hee Hee! Should be ready in a week or so. Opted for black color again!

Bye bye Wish. Hello Estima!

Original WALD kit in Taipei!

So far, there is only one set of Wald Executive Line kit for Toyota Wish in Taiwan. It's a replica kit and it's on a white ride.

But today, that will change. The orignal Japanese Wald Executive Line kit will land it Taipei, making it's coverted appearance and both kits will be owned by none other than...Grant!

This picture was taken when the kit was being checked in at the Singapore airport. Weighing only 16 kg, it was not a problem to check it. It's the size that's a killer.

Obviously, the station crew and the customs officials were curious about what's in the big box. However, they did not give me any trouble at all. They thought it was from Germany due to the German words on the box.

My trolley attracted quite a lot of stares from curious onlookers. It was pretty tall indeed when stacked on the trolley.

Thanks to Raymond for storing it in his warehouse first and arranging the van. Also, thanks to Ah Lim for helping to transport the huge box and returning the van.

New WOLF logo?

Played with the WOLF logo a bit for a simpler but no less aggressive look. No sharp corners so that the sticker won't peel when the car is being polished or washed.

The O can be separated and used as a smaller logo for anywhere in the car too. Very discreet. Can be done on white reflective sticker to stick on white car. Suitable for Ah Lim.

For those wanting to link it as their signature. Use this direct hotlink in your profile. It's 640 X 203 pixels, but only 10K.

Too fast too furious?

Following on John's comments that we are distasteful because some of us always talk about others being rich or not, especially with reference on the 'enhancements' done to their cars, I gave the subject a bit of thought.

As a group of new car owners, I can understand the desire to personalise the cars as well as adding enhancements that will milk more juice out of the 1ZZ-FE engine. However, availability of options, limited resources, family commitments and spousal objections amongst other variable factors have retarded the pace at which we would have like to proceed with our cars. As such, the group often 'encourage' each other when we are pondering over plausible options and hence, the peer pressure can sometimes be quite 'poisonous'. Also, the admiration and peer endorsement usually translate into compliments such as "good MOD", "Unique", "Fierce" and sometimes, "Rich sia!!". This phenomenon is actually not exclusive to our group. A look at all the car forums will clearly show the same trend.

So is "Rich sia!!" distasteful? I think it depends on the context. To the uninitiated, it might even seem sacarstic. But the bunch of guys just meant it to be a complimentary justification on an unnecessary (well the stock car drives right?) expenditure for your personal enjoyment. I wouldn't think too much about it.

However, something else came up during the discussion with Thomas, Justin, John and myself. Are we "too fast, too furious" with our modifications? Are we too "poisonous"? I do know of people who find it difficult to join our gatherings because all we ever talk about is car modifications, accessories etc. Some are simply not able to keep up in terms of the pace at which some of the guys are at it as they rush to do everything while the ten year clock on the COE ticks away. Whilst others simply find us boring after a while, especially when all they wanted to do to their car has been done and they prefer to Keep It Simple and Sweet (KISS). But with our group, it's a never ending option of opportunities which some says it's "too poisonous".

Then there is the point of the plethora of options. Especially those that I 'dig' out from all over the place. Whilst they might be cheaper than what's available locally, or even exclusive items, they still cost money (and sometimes, quite a bit of money). Given the fact that these items may not be available elsewhere, it's a tempting offer sometimes, despite the fact that the monthly financial car mod quota may have already been spent already. As such, my offer to help our friends to procure these options can sometimes be a financial strain, despite the good intentions to share.

Actually, that's one of the reasons why this blog is private. So that the options that I keep for my own reference is well... for my own reference. Access has been granted to the few who asked for it, but word does get around too. Perhaps I should consider to "retire" and put an end to the fiddling with the car, like what Justin was thinking of doing. It's a never ending story anyway.

Just some thoughts in my head that I thought I'll put here. I think at the end of the day, it's personal. We should enjoy this good car at our own pace, within our means, according to our taste. There is absolutely nothing that you must add to the Toyota Wish for it to function well. If it was a crap car, we wouldn't have bought it in the first place.

Lastly, we will all no longer tease John about being RICH. However, we are allowed to call him UNPOOR. Please take note and react accordingly.

Lost - Wish reference book

This is the pre face lift Wish reference book that I lost. Needed it to check on some brake stuff and then I realise that it's not with me.

Loaned it out as I always do with all my stuff, but obviously now I don't know who is holding it and can't seem to get it back. The last time I remember seeing it at West Coast meet up with one of the guys from our group. Someone else probably took it and that's the last I saw of it.

Sign... It's not the money but the hassle of ordering another book if Kinokuniya doesn't stock it anymore.

No more loan out from now on as I can't keep track. All my fault.

If anyone find it, please let me know. Thanks!

Cheers,
