New Toyota Wish Launched

It's finally launched!

I don't quite like the styling, but there are some improvements in this model such as a larger cabin, repositioned side mirror for better visibility. The new paddle shift on the steering wheel looks nice. The speedometer looks cool too.

Door Garnish up!

Went to GP Motor to look at some GARSON DAD accessories with Yeo today. Saw this fully Garson DAD kitted Honda Stream and it was like WOW! I think Yeo will be heading the VIP way soon! Hee Hee.



Anyway, went to Audio Concepts and since I brought my door garnish, might as well fix them up. By the way, it's door garnish, NOT door protector. Serves no protection to the door in anyway. Purely ornamental and decorative.



Had these for a while (as usual), and they are original Toyota parts for Wish. However, only for Taiwan specs, covering the indent at the lower portion of the doors. Forgot to copy down the part numbers for those interested. But I doubt there will be much interest, especially at the price they are charging. Brand new for Toyota cost more than S$500. Even lobang price is slightly more than 50%. Jeez.



As you can see, putting them up is a bit tricky if you want to get the alignment right. Need two pairs of hands, a piece of string and a lot of adjustments. Obviously the guys at AC had plenty of experience with these type of application.



Up in less than 40 mins. About 20 mins on each side and in perfect alignment.

Toyota Wish Sunshade

Just got the Original Toyota Wish Sunshade from Anand. Since my car is out in the sun all the time and solar films can only help so much, I thought a set of sun shades might be good. The long foldable type is a bit cumbersome to store when you drive. So let's see how this type will fare.

Part name: Front Sunshade
Original part number: PZ013 - 0M002



Made of cheapy vinyl plastic. Feels cheap when you first touch it.



But the share itself is much better. Also, instead of 1 large piece, it's actually 2 smaller piece. Easier to fold and manage when you are in the car.



The silver side faces outside and the reverse side is black, with this little icon in the centre.





And this is what the car looks like when it's up. Not perfect fitting becaues of the ERP reader. But let's see how good it is in keeping the car cool. My car looking more and more like ah pek car.

Shift Gate Panel Changed!!

Ok. Had the shift gate panel for quite some time now, but didn't really get a chance to fix it up. Actually. I have 2 sets, one with D-M setting (for Z model) and one with the D-S setting like the stock version on our car. The D-M Model is reserve for the event that I change to the JDM 180 Z speedometer.



As you can see from here, we can't just buy the chrome part and stick it in our gear shift gate. It won't fit and it's souldered on. So have to get the whole panel.



So with our new DIY king, Raymond's help, he got it fixed up in a jiffy last night. Justin also helped. You can see his silky smooth hands here. Thanks Raymond and Justin!



And finally, the completed project! I have not put in the snow button as I've decided to leave it blank at the moment. So the button cap is handy.





Now the black interior look is almost complete. Should I change the aircon knob? Hmm...

Taipei romp

Went around to CKS' place today and was looking at them doing the Cruise control modification for Toyota Wish. Total change of the wire harness. No mean feat here. No bad no expertise to do the same thing in Singapore. Otherwise, I'm sure people like Justin and Raymond sure go for it as they travel up to Kuala Lumpur every now and then.



Anyway, here is the 240 Aerosports style meter, but in the JDM high grade format. Nice! But not for me.



Oh. Seems like Hummer are getting popular here. I've already seen so many of them.

PFL Z model Wish

Hmm.. Not a rational thought, but I was remotely considering the original wide body kit. Since my wheels are now wider than before due to the spacers that were added, perhaps it's something I can consider.

Here's a JDM Pre Face Lift Z model with with Original wide fender. Notice now the 17" wheels and rims are slightly recessed?



The back is even more obvious. I suppose with spacers and spring retainers, you can flush the entire look and it will be quite good looking.



By the way, original window visors too. It's translucent grey.



Whilst we are at it, here's the interior. Look at the shift gate panel. Nice huh? Also, the original steering wheel controls for Head Unit and the tweeter holder beside the inner door handle.

Z model Shift Gate

This is the Z model shift gate. I love the chrome trims on the unit and it cannot be bought separately.

Also, the gear position are not printed on a sheet of plastic. They are solid acrylic buttons. Much better quality.



However, this version shows the D-M instead of our usual D-S position. I will need to get the other version if I want to retain the D-S for a complete look. If I were to opt for a JDM Z model 180 km/h speedometer, then it will all match up as the meter will show M instead of S when engaged in the shiftmatic mode.

Also, the snow button is missing as I've other plans for it. Perhaps a special button to aid the cooling of the car, or light sets. Yet to be determined. Watch this space!

Metallic Blue Wish Emblems

Ok. We have the standard chrome and gold emblems, then we have the painted ones. After that, we had black/smoked chrome versions.

Now...metallic blue (or actually any color) chrome!!!




What will the Japanese think of next!

Actually, I think it looks quite nice. Perhaps for those with matching Endless brakes? From Yahoo Japan.

Taiwan NFL G model speedometer

This is the speedometer on the Taiwan Toyota Wish G model. On the J, E and Z models, it's the 3 ring speedometer



As I've incorrectly pointed to Raymond, I thought it was red, like the JDM and Thai NFL meters. However, it's indeed orange.

Here are some actual pictures of the meter by CKS from Taipei.

Tempting, but I think I'll pass. No power to hit 240 km/h.

New Floor Mats!

I've always envied the nice thick plush Original Toyota Wish carpet that THE BOSS has on his ride. Finally, I decided to get a set for myself and make my ride just a bit closer to his.



Here's a few close up pictures.



Overall, the color scheme goes well with my car, all black and grey. Some might say it's a boring color, I suppose it also a safe option.



Oh, the Wish emblem is actually a die cast aluminum logo that's embeded on the front two piece. Nice!



Actually, Toyota also have another checkered design which is just as attractive. This one has embroidered logo and red sitching. Perhaps more suitable for the Z and X Aerosports model?

JDM NFL Z Speedometer

Hmm.. Seem like everyone likes the NFL type of meter very much. Japan, Taiwan and Thailand Wish are all using this meter now..

If I were to consider changing, I will go for the JDM 180km/h version. The speed readings are more evenly spaced out.

Functionally, it's fully compatible with the 1.8 L Wish (hey, it's JDM on JDM right?). However, the gear shift shows "M" instead of "S" when you are in the shiftmatic mode, unlike the Thai version. Otherwise, all other functions is fully working, including the fog light indicator.



Honestly, it does nothing for my car. Purely cosmetic change. Let's see how it goes.

Thai 240 km NFL Speedometer

Sudden interest in this meter. Justin and I saw it back at He Xing so many months ago for S$780 per piece.

Anyway, arranged for a brand new set to test on THE BOSS' car and here is what it looks like.



Tempting.... but 240 km/h? Nah... my car will never go that fast. Or rather, I don't have the balls to go that fast.

White Toyota Emblem

Yes. We've seen the standard chrome one and there's the red one. But, did you know there is also a white one?

Original PFL Rear Door Garnish

Here is the original rear door garnish from Toyota for the pre face life Wish. It is a one piece replacement for the current garnish with WISH wording and extends over the number plate.



Available for JPY 12600. Made of ABS. Can fit new face lift wish.

Premium Horn again

I was previously exploring the Premium Horn.

Seems like the premium horn available recently is actually the two tone horn used for Lexus as well. This is what the complete set look like.



After calculating, it's almost S$100 just for the horn. Very tempting... Each horn produces a different frequency, one at 400 Hz and the other at 500 Hz.



This is the horn used on the Lexus LS 460. It's basically the same horn, but there's an additional protector. I wonder if it's to prevent water from splashing in.



In any case, the Lexus one is even more expensive and will work out to be about S$120. Surprisingly, the Toyota Premium horn is better finished than the Lexus one.

Decisions..decisions...decisions....

Steering Wheel Harness

This is the original Toyota Steering Wheel harness on our car. Take note that it has only 2 pins as there is no steering wheel remote.



Original Part Number: 84306-52041

For those interested to use the steering wheel remote, there is a 12 pin version too. But make sure you get the right hand drive version. Otherwise, you have to take it apart to convert it.

Emblems again

Ok. More emblems for consideration.



The is the Original Toyota Premium emblem. Not too large, best to compliment model emblems.

The following 3 are edition emblems. Luxury, Sport and Limited. Commonly found on larger vehicles like the Hilux. Also Original Toyota.





Ok. This is not Original Toyota, but some Japanese do put their chasis model on their car. Here's ZNE10G for Toyota Wish 1.8 L.
