Toyota Wish X Aerosports conversion

Kenny and I was looking at the full conversion of the bumper set from the X model to the X Aerosports verson. It's not as simple as we think it is.

Externally, it seems like all we have to do is just to buy the front and rear bumper and add the 2 side skirt.

Obviously, there's more to it than meet the eye. For example, we have to add these wheel arch extension plates to extend the "banana leaf" cover to join back to the lowered bumper. 2 pieces for the front and 2 pieces for the back. Damage is S$100. Ouch! These things probably only cost S$2 each.

In addition, you need to change the foglight harness as the shape of the new bumer render the old harness useless. That's another S$65 each, or S$130 for a set of 2. Double ouch!

Then there is the 4 piece kit itself which cost between S$1200 to S$1800, depending on your source.

If you want to be a perfectionist, there are other exterior considerations besides the 3 items above...

  1. Front bumper grill (no price on this yet)

  2. X Aerosports Spoiler (about S$500 for new set)

  3. Rear disc brake conversion (about S$1000 for used set)

  4. Smoke Rear door garnish (about S$100 for new)

  5. Smoke front bonnet garnish (about S$120)

  6. Smoke headlamp with HID (about S$1400 for new)

Then there is the interior considerations too..

  1. Auto leveling (means you take out your manual leveling button)

  2. Auto con light (no price on this set yet, but not cheap)

  3. Wiper/light stick switch set (about S$200)

  4. Aerosports speedometer (about S$680 for a new set)

  5. Instrument and door panel cubic print (about S$380)

  6. Fold down front passenger seat with arm rest (no price yet, but not cheap)

  7. Sports type driver and passenger seat headrest (S$200 used)

  8. Leather gear knob (about S$20)

  9. Leather steering wheel wrap (about S$200)

  10. Change fabric of seat (only for those who still retain their fabric seats)

The above 19 item list is only for conversion of X to X Aersports. For X'E, there are about 13 other additional items on the list. For X limited conversion to X Aerosports, there is substantial savings as the Smoke Headlamp with HID (auto leveling) and the Auto con light is already there.

So if you total up the cost, the full conversion may cost less that S$8000. I know shortly after I bought the Toyota Wish X model, the X Aerosports was only going for S$4000 more. That was the best time to get the Aerosports model. Otherwise, the conversion don't seem to be that much out of whack in terms of prices.

So...anyone else interested?

Cheers,
